About the Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to fill the position of Deputy Medical Director - Acute Services. This key senior management appointment will play a crucial role in providing medical leadership across the range of Acute Services in NHSGGC.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing medical leadership to medical staff within acute services
  • Promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement
  • Ensuring robust systems are in place to monitor, review and improve clinical performance
  • Directly influencing the strategic direction of the acute sector
  • Supporting the Chief Operating Officer and the Executive Medical Director to plan high quality, economic, safe, efficient and patient-centred services

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Previous medical management experience within Acute/Health and Social care or Public Health services
  • Strong influencing and leadership qualities
  • The ability to inspire the confidence and respect of colleagues to lead and deliver on key professional and service objectives
  • Core leadership competencies including strategic focus, collaborative approach, achieving results and making decisions, influencing and persuading, managing change, in-depth problem solving and analysis, quality improvement, managing self, others and resources, leadership insight and impact, relationship management, improving clinical services and setting direction

What We Offer

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde offers a competitive salary and an annual management fee of £25,000. The post also carries a time allowance equivalent of 7 Programmed Activities, which will be discussed on an individual basis to determine the split between direct clinical care and supporting professional activities.
