Job Description

We are seeking a Cloud Security Architect to join our team at NatWest, responsible for ensuring the robust security of our cloud-based infrastructure. As a key member of our security team, you will work closely with feature teams to understand and address potential security risks throughout the development lifecycle.

About the Role

  • This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Cloud Security Architect to take on a new challenge and support the wider organisation in building and operating secure services that protect both colleagues and customers against emerging threats.
  • You will act as a subject matter expert in a security-related field, ensuring that the security implications of the backlog are understood and addressed appropriately.
  • As part of our fast-paced and dynamic team, you will have great exposure for your work and opportunities for growth and development.
  • This role will also require provision of on-call cover on a rotational basis 24/7, supporting any bank-wide events and releases.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Supporting the identification of risks, contributing to risk management strategies to achieve business objectives and customer outcomes.
  2. Understanding and implementing Agile methodologies and actively contributing to finding opportunities to build security early into design to pre-empt vulnerabilities within our cloud-based infrastructure.
  3. Making decisions based on robust data, return on investment, and value measures that demonstrate thoughtful and intelligent cost management.
  4. Actively contributing to your centre of excellence (CoE) specialism by cross-sharing learnings and best practice with CoE and community of practice colleagues.
  5. Building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across the bank and third parties to ensure commercially focused decisions create long-term value for the organisation.

The Skills You'll Need

  • A background in defining policy controls, experience in KMS or secret management, HSMs, and IAM.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS, Docker, GitLab, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in vulnerability and risk management, threat detection, and threat hunting.
  • An understanding of completing benchmarking to peers and industry standards.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, translating technical issues into business-oriented language.
  • A good understanding of Agile methodologies.
