Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Quality Inspector to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our infrastructure delivery team, you will be responsible for ensuring that engineering systems comply with Council specifications, statutory requirements, and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Undertake inspections and reviews of contractor's design and installation solutions to ensure compliance with Council specifications and statutory requirements.
- Monitor and inspect the progress of engineering elements of construction projects on site, ensuring workmanship meets contract and statutory standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external construction partners to engage in value engineering exercises, ensuring implications of decisions are recorded.
- Deliver quality and performance reports to project managers, outlining progress against project plans and highlighting concerns and risks.
- Act as project supervisor under NEC3, issuing notifications as required.
- Review and endorse additional work outside of contract scope.
- Ensure contractor's operational compliance with health and safety legislation, highlighting instances of non-compliance.
- Deliver detailed inspections of work at practical or sectional completion, recording defective, missing, or incomplete work.
- Assist project managers in determining practical completion, delivering reports on project performance of appointed contracting partners.
- Work collaboratively with project managers and contractors to deliver defect rectification programs.
- Educated to HNC/City & Guilds in engineering trades or equivalent by experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area.
- Extensive knowledge of site-based engineering installations.
- Deep understanding of current engineering standards, statutory provisions, and building regulations.
