Cooplands, a leading bakery company, is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager to oversee the improvement of our health and safety culture and meet legislative standards across two bakeries.

About the Role

As a Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for delivering health and safety strategies, supporting bakery management teams, and monitoring manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with legislative standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Monitoring and reviewing safety representatives' reports and staff safety walks to ensure timely completion of remedial actions.
  2. Chairing site health and safety committees and providing senior managers with minutes and actions.
  3. Reviewing risk assessments and safe working procedures to ensure full compliance with company and legislative standards.
  4. Reviewing all aspects of health and staff training, including new employee inductions, and highlighting training requirements to the compliance manager.
  5. Completing scheduled H & S monitoring and formulating action plans.
  6. Arranging for calibration of H & S monitoring equipment.
  7. Conducting site health and safety inspections.
  8. Ensuring permits to work are issued in accordance with company policy.
  9. Reviewing safety reports, such as racking inspections, fire risk assessments, and insurance reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
  1. A technical or professional qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate, as a minimum.
  2. A proven track record of delivering HSE improvements.
  3. Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  4. Experience in inspection/auditing management systems.
  5. A proactive, innovative, flexible, and co-operative approach to work.
  6. The ability to work in a changing and flexible organization.
Salary and Benefits
