**Summary**:**
The Health and Safety Executive is at the centre of the plans to establish a new Building Safety Regulator that will be responsible for implementing and enforcing a more stringent regulatory regime for Higher Risk Buildings, as well as providing wider and stronger oversight of safety and performance across all buildings. The work of the new Building Safety Regulator will be evolving and developing in the coming years, and you can be part of that.
We’re a new team that is working to improve fire safety in high-rise residential developments across England. You’ll join a team that is supportive, friendly and in the process of developing our role, which you can help us with. Whether you’re a newly qualified level 4 fire risk assessor or looking for a change from an existing fire risk assessment role, we want to hear from you.
**Job description**:
You will be expected to:
- Write, review and submit consultation responses to local planning authorities within a 21-day period.
- Contribute and support the development of the planning gateway one service.
As a Fire Safety Information Assessor, you will have the opportunity to assess some of the most high-profile developments in England and use your knowledge and experience to contribute towards improving in the quality and safety of Higher Risk Buildings. You will be able to use your professional expertise in a way which can have a real impact on improving the quality and safety of the built environment. You will handle a varied caseload ranging from 7 storey blocks of flats to towering skyscrapers in mixed use developments.
You’ll work in a supportive environment with regular peer reviews where you can get advice and share lessons learned with your colleagues. As this is a new service, we’re looking for people who are reflective about their work and can contribute to improving the service through giving and receiving regular feedback.
**The role is desk-based and you have the option to work from home, with the occasional need to travel to HSE’s offices for training and team meetings. We’ll support you to work from home effectively with the supply of good IT kit and office furniture, to make your home working experience comfortable and safe.**

Essential Criteria**
- You will be curious, analytical and have previous experience of assessing fire safety hazards and risks.
- You will have an understanding of working with legislation, regulations and relevant fire safety standards.
- You will possess good organisational skills to be able to manage your workloads to meet deadlines and service standards.
- You will work well within a team and contribute positively by sharing knowledge and ideas for continuous improvement.
- You will have clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- You will be able to use Microsoft Word to write consultation responses.
