Job Summary:

Wardell Armstrong LLP is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee various large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects across diverse sectors, including mineral exploration, rail, wind/solar, and construction, both in the UK and internationally.

The successful candidate will work within the Highways team in Cardiff and collaborate with the Commercial and Project Management teams. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Project Planning: Developing project programs and disseminating essential information to the project team.
  • Site Management: Handling day-to-day queries from the site team and ensuring adherence to project scope and specifications.
  • Progress Reporting: Providing regular updates to the Project Manager and Technical Director on project progress against program and budget.
  • Contract Management: Efficiently managing and issuing accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence.
  • Risk Management: Identifying contractual and commercial risks and opportunities to the Contract Leader at pricing stage.
  • Financial Management: Preparing and agreeing applications for payment or assessing and preparing payment certificates.
  • Register Maintenance: Maintaining registers of variations, delay, extension times, and claims.
  • Change Management: Assisting in change management and cost control.
  • Valuation and Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed, as well as monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Leader Reports.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensuring all health, safety, and environmental risk situations are brought to the attention of the Contract Leader/Project Manager.
  • Site Visits: Conducting regular site visits to inspect quality of work and compliance with the plan (where required).
  • Business Development: Contributing to securing opportunities and repeat clients due to exceptional service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in a project management role within the development sector and relevant degree.
  • Driving License: A driving license and own vehicle.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, demonstrable experience of understanding and/or administering common forms of construction contract conditions, particularly NEC, and sound knowledge of health and safety considerations and legislation.
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercially aware and working towards a relevant qualification such as APM, CEng, NECReg, or other relevant qualifications.
