Job Description

Pro Bono Economics is seeking a highly experienced and exceptional individual to fill the role of Director of Policy and Research. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic organization that prides itself on its flexible working environment, culture of learning, and focus on employee wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the organization's research and policy efforts, developing and implementing strategies to drive impact and influence policy debates. They will work closely with the CEO and Chief Economist to ensure that the organization's research and policy output is of the highest quality and meets the needs of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading and influencing debates on high-profile social and economic issues, as well as experience in designing and implementing effective research and policy projects. They will also have excellent writing and presentational skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.

The Director of Policy and Research will be responsible for managing a team of senior staff and overseeing the organization's budget and resource allocation. They will also be expected to represent the organization at senior levels in external forums, including through the writing of articles, speaking at events, and giving evidence to parliament.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing research and policy strategies to drive impact and influence policy debates
  • Leading and managing a team of senior staff to deliver high-quality research and policy output
  • Overseeing the organization's budget and resource allocation to ensure effective use of resources
  • Representing the organization at senior levels in external forums
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, and journalists

The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader with a strong track record of delivering high-quality research and policy output. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
