About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Healthcare Professional to join our team at IG Medical. As a Senior Health Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our practice nursing team in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake new patient health checks and provide accurate findings
  • Support practice nurses with health promotion programs and chronic disease clinics
  • Carry out baseline observations, including pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rate
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring and advise patients accordingly
  • Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required
  • Support practice nurses with the management of chronic disease clinics
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed
  • Act as a chaperone as required
  • Undertake venepuncture and administer flu vaccinations/B12 injections
  • Carry out ear irrigation and ECGs as requested
  • Deliver domiciliary services in the community
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • Provide support during minor operations as required
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
  • Use clinical system software for audit purposes

Person Specification

  • Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Ear syringing certification
  • Experience of working within a nursing team in General Practice
  • Wound Care
  • Removal of sutures and staples
  • Venepuncture
  • New patient medicals
  • Desirable: Chaperone procedure
