Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Biomedical Support Worker to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our Laboratory Medicine team, you will play a vital role in delivering laboratory results to in-patients, out-patients, and GP surgeries within our hospitals.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will work as part of a team, delivering support services for clinical and scientific staff within Laboratory Medicine. Key responsibilities include:

  • Receipt and registration of patient samples, such as blood and urine, prior to analysis
  • Assisting in the referral of specimens to specialist laboratories
  • Communicating laboratory information to our users

Additionally, the post holder will be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends on a rota basis. Data entry experience is desirable for this role, and keyboard skills are essential.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Basic educational standard - GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Keyboard skills
  • Transferable skills

Data entry experience is desirable, and the ability to speak Welsh is also desirable for this post. Please indicate if you hold a valid British driving license and have access to your own vehicle.
