Your Role and Responsibilities
  • You will spearhead projects, architect system solutions, and develop custom applications while adapting existing systems to meet evolving business needs. This includes coding, debugging, and thorough documentation, along with providing ongoing support post-implementation.

  • Collaborate with a high-performing technology team to create solutions that boost engagement and loyalty among our cardmembers while attracting new clientele to the American Express brand.
  • This position involves critical collaboration with other development teams, quality assurance, and production support to ensure timely implementation and smooth transitions throughout the development lifecycle.
  • The ideal candidate will focus on executing a strategy aimed at transitioning from legacy systems to a microservices-based architecture, aligning with our long-term business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 5 years in a modern development environment with substantial Golang expertise.
  • Proficiency in application design, software development, and testing, ideally within an Agile framework.
  • Familiarity with Git in small to medium-sized teams.
  • Experience with open-source frameworks is advantageous, particularly in maintaining or contributing to such projects.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, Couchbase, or Cassandra, is beneficial.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing REST APIs for high-volume clients.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GHA) is a plus.
  • Experience with automated build and testing frameworks is advantageous.
  • A strong desire to learn new technologies and apply them effectively.
  • Experience with container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a willingness to take calculated risks and share innovative ideas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the payments industry.
  • Experience with coding across various distributed technologies.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of programming languages and payment technologies.
