About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team in Bournemouth. As a key member of our software development team, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining software solutions that deliver exceptional customer experiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and planning development across large or multiple teams, providing expertise in technical areas or specialisms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the software development life cycle, including build, maintain, test, deliver, release, and document user-friendly and customer-centric software solutions.
  • Deliver to standards, ensuring adherence to Vitality's defined technical and process standards, and effectively managing risks and protecting Vitality's data.
  • Provide integrated solutions that are user-focused, strategically aligned, and effectively integrated across multiple teams and platforms.
  • Engage stakeholders, collaborate, and develop an understanding of the needs and requirements of both internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate within and across teams to achieve required results.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience working as a Software Engineer using a range of different frontend and backend technologies, specifically related to mobile applications.
  • Demonstrable expertise in mobile application development for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin/Java), understanding technical and operational capabilities, including build, test, and deployment strategies.
  • Assured communicator, able to present complex technical issues in a clear manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience of Agile Methodology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
