Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and flexible Cleaning and Catering Operative to join our team at York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP). As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and providing a catering service to our patients and staff.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout designated areas, including lifting items and operating cleaning machinery.
  • Undertaking specialist cleaning tasks as required, under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge.
  • Assisting with the distribution of meals to wards and plating up meals to meet the dietary requirements of patients.
  • Making and distributing hot drinks and cleaning and refilling water jugs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work varying shift patterns.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning procedures, COSSH procedures, infection prevention and control, and food hygiene.
