Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cleaning and Catering Operative to join our team at York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP). As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout designated areas, including lifting items and operating cleaning machinery.
  • Undertaking specialist cleaning tasks as required, under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge.
  • Using machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, in accordance with training and guidelines.
  • Ensuring all cleaning materials and disposables are used economically and stored securely.
  • Using colour-coded equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
About the Role

This is a permanent position, working 12 hours per week. Additional hours may be available for those who wish to work them. The successful candidate will be required to work without immediate supervision, prioritizing tasks and using their own initiative.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good basic education, including reading and writing skills.
  • A basic understanding of cleaning procedures, COSSH procedures, and infection prevention and control.
  • Ability to use small and large pieces of equipment, such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery.
