Technical Manager – Residential – Watford – £65,000 plus package

Region: Hertfordshire

A leading developer working throughout the Northern Home Counties requires a Technical Manager to assist and co-operate with the Land department in the investigation and acquisition of development sites.

The role involves detailed technical investigation, design, and optimisation, ensuring proper liaison with statutory authorities, and producing all necessary documentation and drawings to enable contracts to be procured, let, and a site developed by the production department.

Responsibilities include:

  • The co-ordination of production of all necessary technical drawings/specialised designs.
  • Making recommendations for cost-effective optimisation during the pre-planning process.
  • The negotiation and completion of appropriate legal agreements with statutory authorities necessary for the proper technical requirements of a site.
  • Maintain programme dates as set out within the design programme and L3 schedules.

Identifying and resolving technical design and constructional problems including:

  • Collating and providing feedback to the Technical Executive regarding technical design matters encountered during construction.
  • Maintaining a general awareness of current material and construction research and making recommendations or giving warnings as appropriate.

Assisting in the supervision and administration of the Company Technical function by:

  • Ensuring the proper management of the section's workload including the supervision of outside consultants, as approved by the Technical Director.
  • The maintenance and administration of the Company's plan filing and printing system.
  • Ensuring all technical work is carried out within the approved budgets.

Successful applicants will have previous experience working for a residential developer in a Design/Technical Manager role.
