Transmission Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transmission Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at Project People.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining transmission systems to ensure efficient and reliable communication networks. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing network assessments to evaluate the current Ethernet setup and identifying necessary modifications.
  • Configuring network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) for IPVPN connectivity.
  • Ensuring compatibility and integration of existing Ethernet network components with the new IPVPN setup.
  • Executing the migration process, including the configuration and testing of IPVPN connections.
  • Resolving tools & systems data integrity issues and operational performance problems.
  • Analyzing live performance to identify faults and implementing solutions.
  • Identifying planning tool requirements to support the delivery of transmission solutions.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant knowledge of transmission technologies, including Ethernet, IP technology, SDH, and ATM.
  • A strong understanding of Ethernet networking, including VLANs, STP, and trunking.
  • Hands-on experience of transmission planning and circuit planning tools in creating transmission solutions.
  • Experience in a Network Operator or Managed Service Provider environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of project delivery on time and to customer satisfaction.
