Transmission Engineer

Project People is seeking a skilled Transmission Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a key member of our Transmission team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining transmission systems to ensure efficient and reliable communication networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement transmission systems to meet customer requirements
  • Perform network assessments to evaluate current Ethernet setup and identify necessary modifications
  • Configure network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) for IPVPN connectivity
  • Ensure compatibility and integration of existing Ethernet network components with new IPVPN setup
  • Execute migration process, including configuration and testing of IPVPN connections
  • Resolve tools & systems data integrity issues and operational performance issues
  • Perform live performance analysis to identify faults and optimize network performance
  • Identify planning tool requirements to support delivery of transmission solutions
Requirements:
  • Significant knowledge of transmission technologies (leased line and radio) design knowledge and experience, including Ethernet, IP technology, SDH, ATM
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet networking, including VLANs, STP, and trunking
  • Hands-on experience of transmission planning and circuit planning tools in creating transmission solutions
  • Optimization of capacity and performance of transmission networks
  • Experience in a Network Operator or Managed Service Provider environment
  • Demonstrable experience of project delivery on time and to customer satisfaction
