We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Infrastructure division as a Field Operations Manager. SOCOTEC UK Limited is the UK's largest independent construction materials testing division, delivering seven million tests a year to over 5,000 clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing department resources, liaising with clients on technical and commercial issues, and driving operational efficiencies and client deliverables. They will also be responsible for carrying out site testing, ensuring the maintenance of Health and Safety, Quality, Technical and commercial standards, and developing and mentoring the technician team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Effective management of department resources and personnel
  • Liaising with clients on technical and commercial matters
  • Driving operational efficiencies and client deliverables
  • Carrying out site testing and inspections
  • Ensuring the maintenance of Health and Safety, Quality, Technical and commercial standards
  • Developing and mentoring the technician team
  • Staff training and development
  • Being a productive member of the laboratory management team

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Training and development of staff
  • Checking and issuing of reports on a daily basis
  • Ensuring client deadlines are met
  • Communication with clients and staff
  • Maintenance of high level of competence for technicians and control of staff turnover

Job Requirements:

  • Appetite for the role and acceptance of the challenge
  • Sound and demonstrable technical knowledge
  • Team management experience
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry from contracting or materials testing background
  • Knowledge of working with UKAS systems
  • Highly client-focused individual with the ability to set and achieve results
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and reliable
