Main Responsibilities

The National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville, is seeking a skilled physiotherapist to join their enthusiastic and well-motivated inter-disciplinary team. As a specialist physiotherapist in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with complex needs, providing advice and guidance to healthcare professionals, and participating in continuing professional and service development.

You will be an active keyworker in the NSIC, supporting the goals of both the physiotherapy service and the NSIC. Weekend and on-call working are requirements of this post.

Key Duties
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and treatments for patients with spinal cord injuries.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to healthcare professionals, carers, and relatives.
  • Participate in continuing professional and service development, contributing to organisational objectives.
  • Participate in weekend and on-call working.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess a physiotherapy degree, HCPC registration, and a minimum of 24 months relevant post-registration working experience as a physiotherapist. They will also have experience of working with patients with neurological and/or respiratory presentations, as well as experience in student clinical supervision and supervision of junior staff.

  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice.
  • A current and well-presented CPD portfolio.
  • Evidence of ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning.
  • Demonstration of having initiated change of practice or process.
Experience

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the NHS, with a broad rotational scheme, and experience of working with patients with SCI in acute and/or rehabilitation settings.

Special Circumstances
  • Ability to participate in on-call/emergency working rota.
  • Evidence of fitness and endurance to work in the physical environment of the clinical area.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Full driving licence.
