Head of Medical Affairs UK and Ireland

About the Role:
The Head of Medical Affairs UK and Ireland will be responsible for delivering the medical strategy plan and scientific activities in the UK and Ireland region. This role will promote, develop, and maintain strong scientific and medical relationships with key opinion leaders and public health bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to direct reports and the wider medical affairs team, setting direction and ensuring team alignment while developing and retaining key talent.
- Share medical expertise and actively collaborate cross-functionally with multiple areas, including sales & marketing, market access, clinical development, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory affairs.
- Develop and implement medical strategies to support the Therapeutic Area teams in delivering growth in the UK and Ireland.
- Ensure high-quality scientific medical input and clinical strategic direction to support the Therapeutic Area teams.
- Lead the Medical Engagement Team (MSL) to develop strategy and plans for medical information exchange with key opinion leaders and patient advocacy groups.
- Ensure the ethics, transparency, quality, and compliance of all medical activities.
- Oversee Medical Signatory for certification of promotional items, hospitality, donations, and advisory board compliance with ABPI code of Practice and Legislative requirements.
Requirements:
- Medical Degree Required, Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine, business degree, post-graduate qualification also advantageous.
- Proven experience in clinical medicine post full registration and significant and demonstrable experience in the pharmaceutical industry, which should include both clinical research and medical affairs to senior level.
- Strong and demonstrable team leadership capability, including second-line management.
