The Head of Medical Affairs UK & Ireland will be responsible for delivering the medical strategy plan and scientific activities. As the Head of MA UK and NI, you will promote, develop, and maintain strong scientific and medical relationships with key opinion leaders and public health bodies. You will share medical expertise and collaborate cross-functionally with multiple areas, including sales & marketing, market access, clinical development, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory affairs. You will provide leadership to direct reports and the wider medical affairs team, setting direction and ensuring team alignment while developing and retaining key talent.

Your activity as Head of MA will increase scientific credibility and the ethical image of CSL Behring, facilitating and encouraging the Group's product strategy. You will uphold the integrity of the company by being responsible for medical governance at the country level. You will have overall responsibility for ensuring high-quality scientific medical input and clinical strategic direction to support the Therapeutic Area teams to deliver growth in the UK & Ireland.

This role will have a small number of direct reports responsible for leading on Medical Education and MSL. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic and inspirational leadership and shaping a high-performance culture.
  • Leading the medical team to ensure high-quality delivery of tangible and actionable scientific evidence to internal and external customers.
  • Providing an efficient interface between the local Medical team and the Regional & Global Therapeutic Area teams.
  • Translating and defining the UK/IE medical strategy in accordance with the Country strategy and the regional and local priorities.
  • Proactive in identifying emerging trends, integrating them into medical strategic areas, given the stage of product development, business unit/therapeutic areas issues, and the market context.
  • Bringing the medical and scientific expertise needed to build strategic product/franchise plans and therefore Country Medical Integrated plan.
  • Leading Medical Engagement Team (MSL) to develop strategy and plans for medical information exchange with key opinion leaders and patient advocacy groups.
  • Ensuring the ethics, transparency, quality, and compliance of all medical activities. Oversees Medical Signatory for certification of promotional items, hospitality, donations, and advisory board compliance with ABPI code of Practice and Legislative requirements.

Medical Degree Required, Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine, business degree, post-graduate qualification also advantageous. Proven experience in clinical medicine post full registration and significant and demonstrable experience in the pharmaceutical industry, which should include both clinical research and medical affairs to senior level. Strong and demonstrable team leadership capability, including second line management.
