Job Description

">

As a Principal Engineer with BAE Systems, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in structural engineering. You will work closely with design teams to produce equipment and support operations in production, ensuring safety-critical equipment meets contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Analysis of complex steel structures using Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to support submarine build.
  • Utilisation of computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modelling, and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
  • Supporting manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with LOLER, codes of compliance, weld specifications, and geometric tolerance.

Requirements

">

To be successful in this role, you will need:

">
  • An engineering degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) or HND with extensive years' experience.
  • Expertise in structural steel analysis.
  • A good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, knowledge of lifting handling, and LOLER.
  • Working knowledge of ABAQUS (Software), Foran, MathCAD, and Excel.
  • Previous knowledge in a production environment, preferably in a marine production environment.
