The ideal candidate will provide professional Building Surveying services to ensure the council's public buildings, residential garages, and other properties are compliant and well-maintained.

This role involves delivering a range of capital construction projects from inception to completion, working across the council's and external organisations' varied property portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing detailed knowledge of building technology and construction, including identifying defects and repair solutions.
  • Preparing drawings, schedules of works, and specifications at various project stages.
  • Thinking creatively to resolve complex design and property-related problems.
  • Managing the procurement process and selecting suitable building contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with Planning, Building Regulations, Development Control, Health and Safety, and Party Wall Act requirements.
  • Coordinating with contractors, consultants, and project teams to achieve quality and performance criteria.

Requirements include:

  • Detailed knowledge of building technology and construction.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload.
  • High-level communication and project management skills.
  • Experience in contract administration, procurement, and building regulations.
  • Accredited degree and postgraduate degree in Building Surveying, plus 1 year of experience.

Desirable experience includes:

  • 5-6 years of experience in an Architectural or Surveying Office.
  • Experience in condition and dilapidation surveys, NBS Specifications, and contract administration.
  • High-level experience in producing drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in Autocad, Sketchup, and other design software.
