Supporting Young Minds as an ASD SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently supporting a school near Disley who are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, empathetic and reliable ASD SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team for the whole of this academic year.

The role will be full time and will continue throughout the academic year and could become permanent for the right person. You will be supporting pupils who are aged 7 to 16 years old. You may be working with a small group or at times, on a 121 basis. The school require someone who has a good,strong understanding of ASD, trauma and brain injuries and be able to put boundaries in place whilst building a positive relationship with the students. Ideally, you will be Team Teach trained. There could be times where the pupil can display some behavioural difficulties.

The team at this school are dedicated to continuously working closely with parents and carers to provide the best possible outcome for each child. Offering various enrichment activities which in turn encourages pupils to progress through the various aspects of the curriculum.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with ASD and SEND in a secondary school setting
  • Working with small groups or on a 121 basis
  • Building positive relationships with students and parents
  • Managing behavioural difficulties
  • Participating in enrichment activities

Requirements:

  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Previous experience working with young people with ASD or PTSD
  • Up to date Safeguarding training
  • Up to date Prevent awareness training
  • Up to date behaviour management & FGM training
