About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Lead Engineer to join our team at Alstom. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and managing mechanical engineering activities on various projects, including Adessia, HS2, Monorail, and other Urban projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities on projects, ensuring compliance with Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) commitments.
  • Plan and pilot mechanical engineering activities and related deliverables on projects, taking into account applicable instructions, processes, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure mechanical engineering deliverables meet quality standards and are accepted by customers within committed limits.
  • Report on mechanical engineering activities progress and alert relevant stakeholders in case of issues impacting QCD commitments.
  • Define requirements and mechanical interfaces to equipment, including allocated volume, weight, location, etc.
  • Monitor assigned mechanical sub-system deliveries for conformity with project needs.
  • Apply train design rules, processes, and tools, ensuring mechanical engineering deliverables meet quality standards and are accepted by customers within committed limits.
  • Manage production of deliverables in accordance with planning targets on mechanical engineering assigned work packages.
  • Design products taking into account project requirements, including performances, manufacturability, serviceability, testability, etc.
  • Prepare and document mechanical engineering design reviews according to project schedule and follow up on main open actions.
  • Check respect of allocated volumes/interfaces (no-clashes) on internal design.
  • Resolve project mechanical issues and follow challenging actions.
  • Define mitigation plans covering a risk identified on project mechanical domain scope.
  • Report on mechanical engineering activities progress, anticipating issues and alerting if needed.
  • Respect and/or allocate requirements and mechanical interfaces to sub-systems/equipments.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering contributors on projects.
  • Analyze and consolidate change request impacts on mechanical engineering scope.
  • Produce mechanical engineering deliverables, including RSAD L2 (Requirements), Validation Plan, etc.
  • Validate relevant mechanical engineering deliverables and secure planning.
  • Verify design via mock-ups or simulations.
  • Define mitigation plans covering a risk identified on project mechanical (multi-domains).
  • Perform quotation of engineering work package, upon request.
  • Define project mechanical decomposition (project breakdown structure (PBS)).
  • Define mechanical project/product preferred part list (3PL) delivery.
  • Support sourcing, industrialization, and manufacturing teams during production ramp-up.
  • Collaborate with domain lead for continuous improvement of the domain, including return on experience (RoE).
  • Define mechanical domain architecture taking into account weight, gauge, installation strategy, acoustics, eco-design, ergonomics, aerodynamics, aeraulics, etc.
  • Establish certification and validation plans for train design scope.
  • Check availability on time of work package input data and escalate if necessary.
  • Check supplier's and sub-contractor's design quality.
