Consultant Dermatologist

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Consultant Dermatologist to join our well-established team in Brighton. This exciting opportunity is aimed at a general Dermatologist with an opportunity to develop a special area of interest.

Our service covers Brighton General Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital, and Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, with a predominantly based at Brighton General Hospital. The main unit has dedicated facilities, including operating theatres, treatment rooms, a phototherapy unit, and consultation suites.

The Dermatology team is comprised of nine Consultant Dermatologists, two Consultant Plastic Surgeons, four Specialty Registrars, a Research Clinical Fellow, a Surgical Clinical Fellow, and three GPs with special interest in Dermatology. We have a specialist dermatology nursing service supporting clinics, including phototherapy, wound care, nurse-led minor procedures, photodynamic therapy, and systemic and biologic monitoring.

Main Duties of the Job

The clinical duties of the post include:

• Outpatient-based consultations, with daycase theatre lists for those interested.
• Supervising Specialty Registrars, General Practitioner Specialty Doctors, Trainees, Physician Associates, and Nurses.
• Participating in incident reporting, risk management, and safety, quality, and performance clinical governance meetings.
• Compiling an annual portfolio with evidence of continuing professional development.
• Actively participating in audit, including all relevant audits set out in the Trust's Audit Plan.
• Participating in clinical teaching of undergraduate and junior medical staff.
