About the Role


The School of Humanities at the University of Bristol invites applications for a Senior Research Associate.


This full-time, open-ended position is part of a 45-month Leverhulme Trust-funded project, 'Welfare Citizenship and Intersectional Feminism'. The project aims to explore intersectional feminist responses to welfare disparities impacting Black and South Asian communities between 1940 and 2000.


As a core member of the research team, the successful candidate will contribute to joint publications, undertake independent research, and lead community history activities, including oral history interviews. They will also present papers at conferences and seminars and undertake relevant training.

Required Qualifications and Experience


The University of Bristol seeks candidates with a PhD in History, English, or a cognate field. The successful applicant should have a secure knowledge of histories of Black activism, experience working in research archives, and a desire to learn new techniques in digital research technology. They should also be able to work across disciplines, as part of a team, and present research to non-academic audiences. Knowledge of an African language is an advantage.
