Financial Health Benefits Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Financial Counsellor/ Financial Counsellor to join our team at Charles River Community Health. As a key member of our Community Health Outreach and Health Benefits department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and counseling to patients to ensure they receive uninterrupted, quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete state CAC training courses and pass certification exam.
- Screen patients for MassHealth, CarePlus, Connector Care, and Health Safety Net, assisting in the application process.
- Submit applications for health coverage via the Health Connector system.
- Assist patients in collecting information requested by insurers such as Mass Health and/or Health Connector.
- Educate patients about their financial responsibility and requirements to maintain active health insurance.
- Assist with the development of culturally sensitive materials for use in community education programs.
- Record and report patient visits to the Health Benefits department in our data management system.
- Attend all necessary MassHealth meetings and related meetings, providing updated policies and other information.
- Assist patients in navigating the Health Center's financial programs and align services with the institution's financial requirements.
Requirements:
- High School graduate.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Health insurance knowledge required.
- Must be flexible and able to work at either location.
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish (speak and understand).
