Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) School in Gateshead. The ideal candidate will have a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, experience working with children and young people who need additional help daily, and a passion for education.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students in KS2 through to KS4, delivering a range of GCSEs and vocational programmes, and encouraging students to have high expectations for their future. The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm, and this is a long-term position that may transition into a permanent role after a qualifying period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in KS2 through to KS4
  • Deliver a range of GCSEs and vocational programmes
  • Encourage students to have high expectations for their future
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents
  • Support students with SEMH needs
Requirements
  • HLTA qualification
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience working with children and young people who need additional help daily
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
