Job Description

Sustainable Building Services (UK) Ltd, a leading provider of retrofit residential decarbonisation works in the UK and winner of multiple awards, is seeking a skilled Bid Manager to join our fast-growing business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating compelling and successful proposals, bids, and tender documents. They must possess excellent writing and presentation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to produce high-quality submissions that will secure new business.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing bid lifecycles from identification of the opportunity, successful submission to hand-over to operations team.
  • Lead the delivery of bids including supporting bid writers and estimators and formulating bid programmes ensuring completion in agreed timeframes.
  • Manage the flow of client information, the clarification process, including the distribution of the clarification log.
  • Supporting the personal and professional development of individuals within the bid team through Personal Development Plans, training and regular 1-2-1 performance reviews.
  • Bid Improvement Workshops with key contributors including Operational and Commercial teams.
  • Producing 'Bid Exec Summaries' to inform the 'Bid No Bid' process' and/ or 'Win Strategies'.
  • Taking ownership of the 'Bid Pipeline' to track future opportunities and plan resource allocation.
  • Developing relationships with internal bid contributors including commercial and operational and external partners, including architects and engineers into a unified bid team.
  • Working closely with Senior Management teams to produce bid/ pipeline activity reports.
  • Attending a range of networking, procurement, and bidding events.
  • Developing relationships with framework administrators and procurement specialists.
  • Forging relationships with industry, political and academic groups to keep informed of best practice and policy changes.
  • Working closely with Business Development Managers/ Managing Directors to gain market intelligence and support business growth plans in line with objectives.
  • Taking on business development/ key account functions to support wider business objectives.
  • Capturing commercial and quality feedback to drive improvement. Carry out and document a lessons-learnt exercise following feedback from each bid, maintaining an environment of continual improvement within our Bid Strategies.
  • Develop market intelligence and maintain bid library to support the ongoing bid function.
