Acute Paediatrician Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatrician to join our team as an Acute Paediatrician. This is a substantive post that offers a unique blend of resident acute paediatric care and neonatal attending/on call responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be part of an exciting expansion of our paediatric department, contributing to the sustainable rostering of acute care and participating in a new Neonatal on call rota. On-site consultant(s) will lead care for neonates, children, and young people 24/7.

The post offers a hybrid of resident acute paediatric care and neonatal attending/on call responsibilities, with opportunities to increase paid work beyond 9PA via additional DCC/SPA roles. The successful candidate will be able to work extended hours and participate in resident night on calls.

We are looking for a candidate with broad training and experience in general paediatrics and neonates, with evidence of interest in neonatology. The ideal candidate will have child protection experience and in-date training at level 3, as well as experience in delivering neonatal/paediatric care at consultant level.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership, team player, flexibility, and organisational skills within a multidisciplinary team. They will also be able to motivate staff, adapt, and facilitate changes in clinical practice.

Person Specification
  • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics or within six months of the expected date of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Paediatrics OR Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a. European Community Rights
  • Able to work extended hours and participate in the resident night on calls.
  • Evidence of interest in neonatology
  • Broad training and experience in general paediatrics and neonates.
  • Child protection experience and in-date training at level 3.
  • Evidence of training commitment to paediatric trainees or medical students
  • Well-developed effective leadership and management skills - NHS Leadership Framework
  • Demonstrates ability, initiative, and drive to: contribute to strategy, deliver, and support change and improve services for patients
  • Basic IT skills, i.e. able to handle e-mails and presentations
  • Demonstrate leadership, team player, flexibility, and organisational skills within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to motivate staff, adapt, and facilitate changes in clinical practice.
