Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Senior Research Economist to join our team at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled economist to lead research initiatives, develop policy recommendations, and collaborate with stakeholders across the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a high-quality research agenda in one or several thematic areas, including development economics, industrial organisation, economic growth, labour economics, international trade, environmental economics, or finance. They will also provide intellectual leadership to the EBRD, advising senior management on policy issues facing transition economies and emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a research program in one or several thematic areas;
  • Provide research-based guidance to senior management and communicate externally on key issues;
  • Publish research in top-rated, peer-reviewed academic journals;
  • Manage large-scale, complex impact assessments and surveys;
  • Independently work with other IFIs on leading joint research projects and policy reports.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Economics or Finance from a leading university;
  • A strong track record of research publications in relevant fields;
  • Proven ability to translate complex research findings into clear policy advice;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written;
  • Strong knowledge of economic policy issues facing transition economies and emerging markets.

Estimated Salary: €80,000 - €100,000 per annum.
