This is an exceptional opportunity to educate and rehabilitate adult learners in a unique and challenging environment. As a Peer Mentoring Lecturer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the prospects of learners and ultimately changing people's lives for the better.

About the Role

This part-time position involves delivering high-quality curriculum and teaching Personal and Social Development courses. You will be responsible for:

  • Organising and administering educational activities
  • Preparing, assessing, and marking student work
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive course files, including schemes of learning and lesson plans
  • Assisting with student data capture, including retention rates, examination results, and student satisfaction surveys
  • Providing initial curriculum-related advice and guidance, as well as interviewing, induction, assessment, and examination of students as required

The successful candidate will work 18.5 hours per week, with some weekend and evening duties as required by the prison. The salary scale is £26,760-£34,439 per annum (pro-rata for part-time working hours £13,000-£17,000).

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold good basic general education, including GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above
  • Have proven experience in an administrative role
  • Have experience of working in a learning environment
  • Be competent with technology and possess strong IT skills

Suitable candidates will need to be enthusiastic, resilient, and have a humanistic approach. This role is not for everyone, but anyone with a genuine interest is encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role and maintain this throughout employment.
