Job Title: Associate Health and Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Associate Health and Safety Manager to join our Central Services team at our Manchester headquarters. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety awareness and maintaining a safe and efficient workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Head of Health and Safety UK in promoting a culture of safety awareness across the organization
  • Maintain a safe and efficient workplace environment by working closely with laboratory owners, operators, and Facilities staff
  • Develop and maintain the health and safety management system, including policies, procedures, metrics, records, and regulations
  • Coordinate and delegate as Chair of the Health and Safety committee
  • Manage safety incident reports and investigations, and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Biological and chemical safety processes to support cross-site collaboration
  • Training new starters and maintaining training records for fire wardens and first aiders
  • Laboratory management type activities, including day-to-day management of Central Services and line management of junior staff
  • Liaise with global teams to ensure compliance with and development of global safety processes
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree in biological science or chemistry (or equivalent) with at least 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety role
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualified and up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice
  • An agile mind-set, happy working within a fast-moving R&D environment with evolving priorities
  • Certificate in Safety Management (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
  • Experience (qualification or relevant training) in biological safety
  • Experience of working in a containment level (CL)3 laboratory, working in a GLP/GMP environment, or equivalent
