Freight Train Planning Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Infrastructure Train Planner will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective planning of freight train operations. This position requires a strong understanding of railway geography and the ability to produce diagrams for operational staff that meet internal and industry criteria.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Infrastructure Planning Manager to develop and implement planning workloads that comply with network code and industry processes.
- Collaborate with the planning team to ensure the timely and efficient implementation of the weekly train plan, liaising with industry contacts as necessary.
- Produce train crew diagrams that make the most efficient use of driver resources.
- Examine Network Rail documentation and possession train orders to inform planning decisions.
- Liaise with industry partners and suppliers to ensure seamless operations.
- Work with operations and rosters to ensure that all duties are carried out effectively.
Key Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of freight train operations and railway geography.
- Excellent planning skills, with the ability to produce diagrams that meet internal and industry criteria.
- Logical thinker with an analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Highly developed numeracy skills.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in NROL, TOPS/TRUST, and general office applications.
