Anatomical Pathology Technician

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Anatomical Pathology Technician to join our team at Greenwich Public Mortuary. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality operational services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.

• Maintain sterile and hygienic conditions throughout the building, including cleaning tools and equipment.
• Assist with post-mortem procedures, stock control, and record-keeping.
• Implement visual inspections of plant and equipment to ensure health and safety compliance.
• Reception, identification, storage, and release of bodies, including maintaining a register and ensuring security and return of valuables.
• Deal with members of the public in a sympathetic and caring manner when discussing service-related issues.
• Advise, liaise, and cooperate with various stakeholders, including officers, local authorities, police, coroner's officers, and pathologists.
• Bring minor or emergency repairs to the attention of the Mortuary Manager and colleagues, taking necessary action to prevent injury.
• Make arrangements for safe access to the building for maintenance work.
• Bring to the attention of work colleagues any bodies requiring attention from other RBG colleagues or external organizations for disposal.

• RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or significant experience post-level 3 qualification in an autopsy active Hospital/public mortuary).
• Motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to maintain confidentiality and work well in a team.
• Previous local authority experience.
