PhD Researcher: Cellular Trajectories in Senescence
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. The successful candidate will work on a project entitled "Mapping cellular trajectories in the senescence spectrum" under the supervision of Professor Masashi Narita.
About the Project:Senescence is a complex process that can be triggered by various stimuli across diverse cellular contexts. Our recent study suggests that senescence is not a singular entity but rather a continuum of dynamic cellular functionality and plasticity, forming what we term the 'senescence spectrum.' The aim of this project is to gain mechanistic and functional insights into the decision-making process between senescence and tumour initiation within this spectrum.
About the Role:The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that combines single-cell biology and epigenomic approaches with computational data analysis. The role will involve designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analysing data, and interpreting results in collaboration with computational biologists.
Requirements:- Experience in epigenetic mapping and computational data analysis is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong background in cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
This four-year studentship is funded by Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute and includes full funding for University fees and a stipend of £21,000 per annum for four years.
How to Apply:To complete your online application, please provide the following:
- Choice of project and supervisor.
- Course-specific questions.
- Research Experience (up to 2,500 characters).
- Statement of Interest (up to 2,500 characters).
- Supporting documents (academic transcripts, evidence of competence in English, details of two academic referees, CV/resume).
The closing date for applications is 31st October 2024 with interviews expected to take place in January 2025.
