Job Purpose:

The Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring the plant's availability, reliability, and effectiveness. This includes identifying future improvements and maintenance requirements, as well as ensuring the day-to-day reliability of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure plant operations are safe and effective.
  • Develop and implement plans to ensure future reliability of plant equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve recurring plant issues to maximize uptime.
  • Analyze engineering-based non-standards.
  • Complete regular reviews of planned maintenance.
  • Ensure safe working practices through method statements and risk assessments.
  • Implement plant and process improvements.
  • Control and understand engineering spend.
  • Ensure sufficient spares to minimize downtime.
  • Engage and control contractors.
  • Understand and comply with environmental and safety legislation.
  • Liaise closely with maintenance and operations to maximize opportunities during plant downtime.
Technical Skills:
  • A sound understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of forging press operations.
  • Knowledge of reheat furnaces, refractories, and controls.
  • Cranes and lifting equipment.
  • A knowledge of civil and building engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to develop risk assessments and method statements.
  • Redesign equipment and implement modern engineering systems and solutions.
