About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ethics Research Specialist to join our team at Wellcome Trust. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in research ethics and a strong understanding of the principles that guide ethical scientific research.

As an Ethics Research Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality research projects that enhance our embedded and proactive approach to bioethics across our strategic research areas. This will involve conducting research, analysis, and synthesis of evidence on developments in bioethics, as well as facilitating engagement and networking with funded platforms, networks, and grantees.

You will work closely with teams across Wellcome to support appropriate ethics analysis throughout the lifecycle of research activities and identify potential areas that could benefit from strategic investment in evidence or resource development. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and delivery of Discovery Research and the Bioethics programme, ensuring strategic objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver research projects to enhance our embedded and proactive approach to bioethics
  • Conduct research, analysis, and synthesis of evidence on developments in bioethics
  • Facilitate engagement and networking with funded platforms, networks, and grantees
  • Support appropriate ethics analysis throughout the lifecycle of research activities
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Discovery Research and the Bioethics programme

What You Will Need

  • An advanced degree or equivalent qualification in ethics, philosophy, health-related social sciences or medical humanities
  • Substantial knowledge of current trends in bioethics (including, but not limited to research ethics) and the ethical and social issues arising from biomedical research
  • Experience using research methods to design and deliver research projects
  • Programme and/or project management skills, identifying the work and tools required to deliver objectives and mobilising resources to achieve these
  • Proven influencing, engagement, and stakeholder management skills to build and sustain constructive collaborative relationships

Salary: £55,400 per annum
