Job Summary

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant/Associate to join the Centre for Landscape Regeneration (CLR) team. The successful candidate will work on developing machine-learning based approaches to advance the core objectives of the project, focusing on identifying optimal land management solutions for delivering food production, nature conservation, and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead research to develop machine-learning based approaches for landscape regeneration
  • Deploy machine learning techniques to model objective functions and infer optimal solutions
  • Utilize data from remote and in situ sensor technologies to develop multi-fidelity approaches
  • Conduct comprehensive climate change risk assessments using downscaled and bias-corrected climate simulations

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Background in machine learning applied in an environmental science domain
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills
