About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Estates Manager to join our team at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing a small team of professionals who oversee our estate of 24 community fire stations and one training centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of surveyors, engineers, facility managers, and administrators
  • Develop and shape our new estates strategy with a focus on sustainability and carbon net zero
  • Manage capital and revenue budgets, provide cost-efficient technical solutions, and introduce innovation to our ways of working
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, reporting to the Assistant Director of Resources
  • Ensure statutory compliance across the estate, including statutory and grant funding applications

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing complex capital construction projects in occupied operational buildings
  • Sound knowledge of budget management, construction contracts, complex mechanical and electrical systems, facilities management, and public sector procurement
  • Ability to scrutinize detail while operating at a strategic level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical issues succinctly and clearly
  • Valid driving license and ability to undertake site surveys
