We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team at Alexander Associates, where you will play a key role in delivering civil design solutions for water and wastewater projects.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity is based in Durham and involves leading projects, managing work packages, and overseeing the civil design for both infrastructure and non-infrastructure works.

You will be responsible for supervising junior engineers, ensuring designs meet all technical specifications, and helping deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Details of the Role:
  1. Position: Senior Civil Engineer - Water Utilities
  2. Location: Hybrid, ideally based in or around Durham, with flexibility to work remotely or from other regional offices across the UK.
  3. Primary Focus: Supporting an expanding framework with Northumbrian Water Group, with opportunities to work on a variety of projects across the UK.
    1. Lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to detailed design and commissioning.
    2. Supervise and mentor junior engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    3. Produce and review design concepts, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
    4. Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets and resource management.
    5. Collaborate with the wider team to ensure project success.

    The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) with professional qualifications (preferred but not essential).

    A strong background in the design of water and wastewater infrastructure, with both infrastructure and non-infrastructure project experience, is essential.

    Proficient in MS Office, and ideally familiar with engineering software such as AutoCAD.

    Proven ability to lead projects and manage budgets effectively.

    This is a permanent role, offering an opportunity to work on exciting, high-profile projects in the water utilities sector.

We estimate this role comes with a salary of approximately £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
