Job Overview

This exciting opportunity offers a seasoned registered nurse the chance to showcase and grow their leadership and clinical skills in a dynamic cardiology environment.

We are seeking a Unit Manager to join our esteemed team in the CCU Cardiac Unit, which comprises 10 high dependency beds and telemetry units treating patients with a range of cardiology conditions.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to prioritise work using their own initiative, thrive under pressure, and respond to complex health problems and patient flow issues.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the nursing team and care support team are adequately resourced and organised to deliver high-quality care.

They will lead and develop the nursing team and support teams by providing leadership and direction, capitalising on research and development opportunities, and providing clinical supervision and advice.

The Unit Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the productive operation of the department, maintaining standards that create a safe, clean, and organised environment, and using processes to increase the time nurses spend in therapeutic contact with patients.

Additionally, they will be responsible for workforce planning, talent management, and ensuring all vacancies are recruited to in a timely manner.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Appropriate NMC Registration
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Post Registration Qualifications relevant to the role
  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing
  • Evidence of Education to Degree Level
  • Successful completion of/will to work towards a leadership and development programme

Desirable criteria include Level 4 ILM or equivalent, experience of managing a clinical area, knowledge of the PDPR Process, and evidence of working at Band 7.
