Job Summary:

Pertemps TM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team on a temp to perm basis. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for overseeing night operations, ensuring efficient and timely transportation services while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Support and promote a strong safety culture in the transport operation, understand roles and responsibilities for yourself and your team, and be clear on objectives and KPIs.
  • Operational Management: Review and adjust daily plans as needed, schedule and conduct 1-2-1s with direct reports, manage and resolve daily transport issues, and brief and debrief subcontractors starting and finishing on site.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Be the main point of contact for all drivers during your shifts, communicate productivity and direct hours targets to the team, and ensure and check pre-shift yard checks and defect process.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Handle accident and breakdown management, deputise for the transport manager on daily calls when needed, and assign and manage work via TMS, ensuring system compliance.

Requirements:

  • Experience and Skills: Proven experience in logistics is advantageous, knowledge of transport legal compliance, strong supervisory skills, target driven mind-set, proficient in computer use, excellent team player, effective communication skills, strong problem solving skills, ability to work independently and make decisions, and details orientated and highly organised.
  • Education and Certifications: Relevant qualifications and certifications in logistics and transportation management.
