About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and young people with complex emotional and mental health needs.

Your primary responsibility will be to work with children, young people, and their carers, providing direct mental health assessments and interventions. You will also be responsible for responding to urgent queries and undertaking assessments of young people presenting in crisis. Through collaborative risk assessment, you will develop appropriate safety plans and aim to reduce hospital admissions and agree a robust community package of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct mental health assessments and interventions to children and young people with complex emotional and mental health needs.
  • Respond to urgent queries and undertake assessments of young people presenting in crisis.
  • Develop appropriate safety plans and aim to reduce hospital admissions and agree a robust community package of care.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, and their carers to provide high-quality care.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans to ensure the well-being of children and young people.
Requirements
  • Relevant professional qualification or experience in mental health.
  • Direct work experience with children and young people.
  • Experience of assessments and therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments in a clinical role.
