SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Specialist school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will have experience of working with highly complex A.S.D./SEMH pupils and will be responsible for supporting them in developing their day-to-day and academic skills, as well as their social emotional needs, in preparation for their transition to secondary education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in developing their day-to-day and academic skills
  • Providing interventions and cover classes across the school
  • Working with teachers to develop learning activities and provide support to pupils
  • Supporting pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs

Requirements

  • Experience of working with SEMH pupils
  • Experience of working with complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to provide support to pupils with SEMH needs
