We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Maintenance Engineering Specialist to join our team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. As a key member of our highway maintenance team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality services to our community.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Providing highway engineering and maintenance expertise to support the delivery of our highway maintenance programme.
  • Preparing minor highway works projects from identification to completion, working in partnership with our in-house operational unit and external contractors.
  • Providing advice to members of the public, elected members, and parish councils, as well as other stakeholders.
  • Supervising and managing highway works, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation requirements.
  • Managing budgets and providing effective leadership to our team.

**Requirements:**

  • Education to HND/HNC standard in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in highway maintenance, including supervision and management of highway works.
  • Working knowledge of highway design standards, engineering contract management, and highway law.
  • Ability to use computer-based IT systems to obtain, analyze, and manipulate technical data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with good customer service skills and ability to represent the Council at public meetings and other forums.
