Project Officer - Wetland Habitat Restoration

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Officer to join our team at Caerlaverock Nature Reserve. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering the Wilder, Wetter Caerlaverock project, a pioneering initiative to restore wetland habitats across the reserve.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working on landscape-scale habitat restoration projects and practical habitat management work. You will be responsible for coordinating the project's activities, including infrastructure installation, habitat restoration, and monitoring. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the delivery of the Wilder, Wetter Caerlaverock project
  • Work with the project team to develop and implement habitat restoration plans
  • Install infrastructure, including fencing, water troughs, and cattle handling pens
  • Monitor and report on project progress and outcomes
  • Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and external partners to achieve project goals

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working on landscape-scale habitat restoration projects
  • Strong knowledge of practical habitat management and conservation principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly motivated and driven individual with a passion for wildlife conservation
