We are currently seeking a highly skilled Safety Case Manager to join our team on a permanent basis, working on major projects.

Purpose and Scope:

The Safety Case Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering core radiological safety case capability and support to programmes, projects, and Amentum UK's growth aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as a safety case manager, safety case author, or Independent Verifier as required for project support.
  2. Support programme and project safety case leads in strategic planning and delivery.
  3. Assist the Head of Profession in capability development, resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence establishment.
  4. Identify, implement, review, and monitor Amentum and programme-specific management and technical arrangements to support delivery.
  5. Prepare and coordinate safety documentation delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
  6. Advise Amentum leadership, engineering, programme, and project management, and clients on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  7. Assist safety case assurance through project, programme, and corporate requirements.
  8. Define and develop interfaces between related functions, including engineering and projects, to ensure work delivery.
  9. Support clients in interactions with regulators and safety committees, and support Amentum business development as required.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  1. Ideal degree (or equivalent education).
  2. Proven experience in nuclear fire safety assessment, nuclear safety assessment, and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  3. Experience in applying codes and assessments in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
  4. Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  5. Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment.
  6. Experience in managing staff and contractors.
  7. Knowledge of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  8. Solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  9. Knowledge of regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  10. Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  11. Travel will be required, up to several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  12. Supervisory experience, good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing, and good MS applications, organisational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
Desirable:
  1. Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
  2. Previous working knowledge of UK nuclear new build.
  3. Experience of international nuclear safety assessment, project management, and project controls.
  4. Stakeholder management and ability to mentor and coach.
