Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Dairy Herd Manager to join our team at a leading dairy farming enterprise in South-West Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Herd Manager in the day-to-day tasks on this busy dairy unit, milking over 1500 Holsteins. The role involves overseeing a team of 18 to ensure high welfare standards and meet key performance targets for the herd. Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Herd Manager in managing the dairy herd and team
- Oversee the day-to-day tasks on the dairy unit, including milking and herd management
- Ensure high welfare standards for the herd and team
- Meet key performance targets for the herd
- Collaborate with the Herd Manager to develop and implement strategies for improving herd performance

Requirements

- Experience with large herd sizes and dairy farm management
- Management or assistant management experience in a dairy farm setting
- Ability to manage and communicate effectively with a large team
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
