Assistant Dairy Herd Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Dairy Herd Manager to join our team at a leading farming enterprise in South-West Scotland. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a high-performing dairy unit, milking over 1500 Holsteins, and contribute to the success of our business.

The Role

As Assistant Dairy Herd Manager, you will assist the Herd Manager with the day-to-day tasks on the dairy unit, overseeing a team of 18 to ensure high welfare and meet key performance targets. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of the dairy herd, including milking, feeding, and health checks
  • Overseeing the team to ensure high standards of animal welfare and productivity
  • Collaborating with the Herd Manager to develop and implement strategies to improve herd performance
  • Managing and communicating with a large team to achieve business objectives
The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced and skilled individual with:

  • Experience working with large dairy herds
  • Management or assistant management experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of AI and foot trimming (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and team management skills
